Singapore Lyric Opera’s Children’s Choir always strives to be a choir of quality and excellence

Children’s Choir

The Singapore Lyric Opera Children’s Choir (SLOCC) is a member of the Singapore Lyric Opera family. It was set up in August 2006 with the aim of providing vocal training and performance skills for children aged 8 to 16 years. The SLOCC aims to be a children’s choir of quality and excellence, and is one of the finest choruses in Singapore.

Performance opportunities are ample with involvements in the Singapore Lyric Opera’s opera productions, concerts and outreach activities. The repertoire of the SLOCC ranges from operas, oratorios, choral masterpieces and musical theatre from all periods, genres and languages. All SLOCC members are selected by audition. Membership is by subscription. Recent performances of the SLOCC include opera productions like Puccini’s Turandot (2008) and La Bohème (2010), Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte [The Magic Flute] (2010) and Bizet’s Carmen (2011) at the Esplanade Theatre. Members of the SLO Children’s Choir are given solo opportunities in concerts.

Youth Choir

The Singapore Lyric Opera Youth Choir (SLOYC) is a member of the Singapore Lyric Opera family and was set up with the aim of developing young singers who have a keen interest in and a love for music. Members from 16 to 30 years will be given opportunities to explore repertoire from different genres and cultures.

The Singapore Lyric Opera Youth Choir made its debut on 4 November 2008. The Choir has to date performed in concerts like the Puccini Gala in November 2008 and sold out solo concerts at the Esplanade Recital Studio in August 2009. The Choir also took part in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Puccini’s La Bohème and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. Members of the SLO Youth Choir are given solo opportunities in concerts.
